Heather Jansma BA, BMT, MTA
Heather is the newest addition to the Arpeggio Music Therapy family, having join the team in 2019 as the primary service provider for Fredericton and surrounding areas. A native of Halifax, Nova Scotia, with a lifetime of experience in theatre, youth ministry and church music, Heather was a mature student when doing her Bachelor of Music Therapy at Acadia University from 2014 to 2017. While there, Heather gained experience working with adults with special needs, school children and seniors.
Her internship at Camp Hill’s Veterans Building in Halifax gave Heather the opportunity to serve Canada’s service men and women from WWII and later in choirs, relaxation and stimulation groups, palliative care and one-on-one settings, aiming to meet the psycho-social needs of the seniors in her care and their family members.
In addition to her designation as a Certified Music Therapist, Heather has completed further training in neurologic music therapy. An accomplished singer and guitar player with experience in professional theatre and dinner theatre, Heather enjoys songwriting and playing piano. She plans to publish and record her liturgical music in the coming year. Her musicianship goals include taking on the mandolin as one of her instruments and advancing her jazz guitar skills.
